President's Welcome Message
Dear President Bancha Saenghiran, Ms. Feng Junying, counsellor of education, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, attendees of this seminar,
Good morning.
On behalf of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, I would like to extend our warmest greetings to you. What a pleasure to meet friends both old and new. I want to thank Faculty of Biotechnology of Assumption University, the Library, Confucius Institute at Assumption University and College of Biotechnology of Tianjin University of Science and Technology for preparing for this seminar.
We also want to thank Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand for their guidance and support for Confucius Institute at Assumption University and the collaboration between Assumption University and Tianjin University of Science and Technology. Ms. Feng, thank you for attending this seminar.
Tianjin University of Science and Technology has a history of more than 60 years. We are strong in biological fermentation, food nutrition and health. The agricultural sciences, chemistry, biology and biochemistry, and engineering programs are all listed as world top 1% of Essential Science Indicators. So far, we have built up 39 research centers and labs of state and provincial level, including State Key Lab of Food Nutrition and Safety, State International Scientific Research Cooperation Base on Mega-health and Biotechnology etc. Our researchers have completed many important R&D projects of state level. The research achievements are marvelous. We have got 8 research awards of state level during recent years.
With strong support of President Bancha Saenghiran, annual Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar have been successfully held three times at Assumption University. Professor Wang Min, Professor Xie Xixian, Professor Teng Yu’ou and other professors of our university attended the seminars. I attended the annual Confucius Institute board committee meeting at Assumption University in 2016. The hospitality of President Bancha and members of Assumption University, the beautiful campus, impressed me deeply.
President Bancha visited Tianjin University of Science and Technology twice for Hanban’s Education Administrators’ Visit to China Program and the annual Confucius Institute board committee meeting. Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, former dean of Faculty of Biotechnology of Assumption University, and Assistant professor Patchanee Yasurin, dean of Faculty of Biotechnology of Assumption University, visited Tianjin University of Science and Technology twice for academic meetings and research exchanges.
Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul planned to hold 2020 Asia Biotechnology in Tianjin. But the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic made our plans impossible. You can always find solutions for the problems. Under the circumstance of the new norm of pandemic prevention and control, we should have new ideas and new ways. This online seminar is good try. It is hoped that the two universities could work together to apply for China-Thailand research cooperation projects, build Chinese plus biotechnology cooperation platform, have deeper co-operations through Belt and Road platforms.
Today’s world is a shared community for all countries. To tackle with the challenges of the world, people of different countries should work together. Education should should this trend and promote deeper understanding of different knowledge and culture through deeper exchanges. It is hoped that this seminar could bring us deeper understanding, international vision and inspiration. Let’s work together to make contributions to world peace and development.
I want to thank President Bancha again for his strong support for Confucius Institute at Assumption University and the cooperation between the two universities.
The year 2021 is a past now. Let’s seize the day and live it to the full, and greet the arrival of the year 2022 together.
I wish this seminar a great success.
Happy New Year. I wish you good health and all the best.
That’s all. Thank you.
